San Francisco Holiday

The city by the bay, San Francisco is a unique and varied city. A truly beautiful setting with stunning architecture, brilliant landmarks and a thriving city make this a great short break destination or park of a tour on the western states of America.

With a hilly backdrop the Golden gate bridge and the island of Alcatraz San Francisco ranks highly as one of the worlds most scenic cities and very few places on earth combine a stunning natural landscape with the breathtaking building achievements of man.

Here you get to wander through the cells and Alcatraz is so well preserved it is like travelling back in time and being an inmate yourself. Chinatown has one of the largest Asian populations outside of Asia and as you walk through its streets you feel like you could be in the Far East with its wonderful smells, colours and food, dining here is a must for any stay in San Francisco. The thriving downtown district is a metropolis if skyscrapers, shops, restaurants and bars and provides a great clean city experience. Fisherman’s wharf is a haven on the bay front, a traditional wooden wharf with piers that house shops, restaurants and more including the famous and rather noisy sea lion colony that live here.

Outside of San Francisco northern California has loads to see an do with the Napa Valley wine region, giant redwood forests at the Muir woods and the incredible north Californian coastal road (including the famous 17 mile drive, Carmel and Monterey) all with a day drips distance of this city there is plenty to explore in the region.

With massive choice of hotels ranging from basic bed a breakfast accommodation to 5 star deluxe hotels there are loads of places to stay. Getting here couldn’t be easier, with several direct flights a day from London and many other regional flights connecting in other cities there is lots of choice. If driving again the city has a great road system and is easily accessed from other parts of the region.
